As you may know, over the past three years I’ve spent many thousands of hours researching, writing, and reporting on the global response to Covid, particularly with regard to the influence of the Chinese Communist Party, a story on which I didn’t see anyone else focusing. The resulting work has been a kind of cross between investigative journalism, art, and law.
Because I’ve consider this work a public service, I’ve made very little money doing it, nor have I ever requested any. However, a new year brings new obligations. I’ve decided to take this year off from my full-time career as an attorney to take care of my new baby, Sofia, and hopefully continue to write while doing so.
As my longtime followers can attest, I believe what sets my work apart is the quality and honesty of the research and analysis as well as the importance, accuracy, and little-known nature of the facts reported. Unlike many big Substack and Twitter users, I have no outside political or financial affiliations, employees, contracts, or agreements, and this has kept my work completely non-partisan and independent, which I believe to be vital for a story as sensitive as this one. I do sometimes contribute articles to the Brownstone Institute, but I have never received money from that organization.
I realize there’s some fraction of my readers who are convinced that I work for the FBI or some other intelligence operation and may be thinking, “Why would I donate money to the feds?” While it’s a flattering theory, I can promise it is not true. Just a smart kid trying my best to step up to a job I didn’t see anyone else doing.

I’m not a fan of paywalls, so I do not intend to paywall any of my work at any point for the foreseeable future. Also, the elephant in the room is that there’s a finite amount of information to report about the response to Covid, and we may be approaching the point where there’s simply not much more to report. Thus, I can’t guarantee that I will keep writing so much about this subject for too much longer, though I may begin to expand into other areas.
That said, I still have several important essay topics lined up, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised in the past few weeks by how many huge stories about the response to Covid there still are to uncover when one happens upon the right leads. I will continue to report on these stories in depth as they come in, both here and on Twitter. But for the time being, it would be best to consider any donations or subscriptions as being for the value of my work produced to date. Michael, not to be tacky by pointing this out... but your monthly Substack rate is $5, so $60 annually. But your Annual rate is $70 ($5.82/month). Typically, the annual rate works out to less than the monthly rate, a bonus for paying in advance/lump sum.
