Same. I'm mid 50s and have experienced many colds and flu bugs, but I've never experienced 3 days of intense headaches, then a total loss of smell and taste, then weeks of lingering chestiness that got me to finally see a doc about a 'preventer' asthma inhaler, something I've resisted for 40+ years.

I've also have various vaccines, but without the short-term stroke and heart issues this crap gave me...
I'm 57 and had three "flu" in my life, 2003-one month, 2009-3 months (long flu, following only ever flu shot, while working for a blood testing company, where nurses showed up at work one day and gave us all a free shot), 2013-1 month (probably rhinovirus).
The second time around, having long flu, was horrifying. Anyone who says they've not been put down by a flu, IMO has simply lived too sheltered a life.
